There are many classification methods for steel wire ropes, which can be classified according to structure, use, surface state, material or strength level. Generally speaking, steel wire ropes mainly include the following types:

1. Bright steel wire rope has been produced for more than 100 years. There is no protective treatment on the surface of the steel wire. The bright steel wire rope is not wear-resistant, easy to rust, and has a relatively short service life. It is a backward technology and is being eliminated.

4. Plastic-coated steel wire rope, coated with a layer of polyethylene or polypropylene or nylon outside the smooth steel wire rope or galvanized steel wire rope, has a certain anti-corrosion ability, but compared with the same diameter steel wire rope, the tensile force is much lower.

5. Phosphating-coated steel wire rope is a new technology that has emerged in recent years. It uses manganese or zinc-manganese phosphating to treat the steel wire. The phosphating film greatly improves the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the steel wire surface. It is an upgraded product of smooth steel wire rope.
