Launched in 1690, the San Felipe became the commanding ship of the Spanish Armada because of its great fighting power. It was one of the most beautiful and formidable ships of the 17^th century.

There is no other ship’s luxury decoration can compared to the St. Philip in the history of Spanish shipbuilding. The deep blue paint on the upper part of her hull with numerous golden carvings, especially the golden carvings on her poop, colonnades and door lintel, which make her look brilliant and splendid. Admired both for her magnificent shape and for her impressive exploits, St. Philip became the model of the sailing warship of the time.
